This talk is about the ability of new GLP-1 Receptor targeting to transform the global chronic disease epidemic and the barriers to uptake of this biologic breakthrough in the current medical establishment. Technology has the ability to transform medical care in this area. Will we move bravely forward? Or will we get stuck in the inertia of current care pathways?


  1. Describe the mechanisms of action and current evidence supporting GLP-1 receptor–targeted therapies in the management of chronic disease.


  2. Analyze barriers to the adoption of GLP-1 receptor therapies within current care pathways, including systemic, logistical, and cultural factors.


  3. Apply strategies to integrate GLP-1 receptor therapies into patient care plans where clinically appropriate.


  4. Evaluate opportunities to overcome institutional inertia and access limitations in order to optimize patient outcomes with these biologic innovations.
